Gorge Cave

Matelot Waterfall

We invite you to experience the beauty and tranquillity of Matelot Waterfall, located along Trinidad’s north-eastern coast. A hidden oasis awaits you some 3 kilometres upstream the Matelot River, as eventually the tropical canopy reveals a series of secluded basins with crystal-clear waters that beckon you to soak in their crisp coolness and refresh your spirits. 

Advanced hikers can complete the journey in roughly 1 hour, while beginners and intermediate adventurers can indulge in a leisurely 2 hour trek. Whether you are a seasoned trekker or a family with young explorers, the hike promises an unforgettable adventure through some of Trinidad’s forested landscapes.

Matelot river

Matelot is the last fishing community along Trinidad’s north-eastern coast and provides visitors with an unforgettable 30-minute tour to the community’s river through a lush scenery of flora and fauna.  Between April and June each year, the surrounding forest comes alive in an array of tropical colours, punctuated by the graceful dances of the various species of butterflies, which add an extra layer of charm to the experience.

Homard Waterfall

Homard Waterfall sits on the Homard River, just on the outskirts of Grande Rivere. The waterfall cascades gracefully, boasting a height of approximately 30 feet. At its base lies a tranquil pool, inviting travellers to bathe in its crystal-clear waters.  

Embark on a hike to this natural marvel, a journey that offers both challenge and reward. The trail, mostly uphill along a wide path with occasional narrow sections, winds its way through lush foliage, which provide shade along the way.  

While the ascent may test the endurance of those unaccustomed to hiking, the return journey offers a serene communion with nature, making the effort well worth it. Despite the 2.5-hour duration of this hike, guests of all ages who are physically able can partake in this adventure, ensuring that everyone has an opportunity to experience the beauty of Homard Falls.

Join us on a 20-minute journey to Shark River, nestled between the charming villages of Grande Riviere and Matelot. This idyllic destination offers a perfect escape for a relaxing day immersed in nature.

Two Branch River

Paria Waterfall

Discover the secluded beauty of Paria Waterfall on this coastal excursion. Accessible by boat, the journey offers views of stacks, arches, caves, and other natural formations that adorn the coastline.  

After docking at Paria Beach, embark on a short walk inland that leads to the Paria Waterfall. Tucked away amid the pristine beauty of the Northern Range, it boasts clean, clear waters that cascade over 10 feet of rocks into a plunge pool.

MATURA NATIONAL PARK

Matura National Park is a sanctuary of natural beauty and biodiversity. In fact, in 2024, the park was designated an Environmentally Sensitive Area in recognition of its ecological significance by the Environmental Management Authority of Trinidad and Tobago. Home to a diverse array of environmentally sensitive species, including the rare and elusive Ocelot, the endemic Trinidad Piping-Guan (Pawi), and the delicate Oncidium Citrinum Orchid, Matura National Park is a haven for wildlife and flora alike.

You can join our guides in exploring the natural wonders along trails that wind through the wilderness, offering glimpses of the park’s rich biodiversity. River Estuary Tour

Grande Rivere gets its name from the large river which runs through it, meeting the sea on the easterly end of the beach. On this tour, you will venture on a captivating journey along the banks of Grande Riviere, as you delve into the ecology and habitat of this enchanting river. This immersive walking tour offers a unique opportunity to explore the rich biological diversity and natural wonders that thrive within its waters.

Piping Guan and Birding -  The Montevideo Trace Tour

(Maximum Number – 10 Persons) 

The Piping Guan, which is locally known as the Pawi, is a large turkey-like bird that is primarily found in remote parts of Trinidad, such as Grande Riviere. It is one of Trinidad’s two endemic species and was once hunted to near extinction. The Piping Guan has been the focus of considerable local conservation efforts that have resulted in a gradual increase in its numbers and visibility.

You will be invigorated by an early morning hike up Montevideo Trace to Pawi Lodge, where guests will have access to a lovely platform among the nutmeg trees, where the Piping Guan can be found having its first feeding, quietly. As the sun rises, the tour takes you further into the surrounding forest to find other species such as Woodpeckers, Kites and Trogons.

FEDNAND WATERFALL

Fednand Waterfall is preceded by a 20-minute trek with a scenic view. The experience is open to people of all ages, who will be further enthralled by the soothing sound of the cascading water.

The waterfall is estimated to be between 10 to 15 feet tall and its base consists of cool, clear water that provide enthusiasts with a refreshing experience.

This hike is perfect for a last-minute excursion or for those seeking a simple yet rewarding adventure.
