Nanan's Eco-Tours

Simon and Winston Nanan’s concern for the protection of the beautiful Scarlet Ibis led to the collection of over 200 signatures of persons in 1948, many of whom were very influential, following which a petition was sent to the Conservator of forests for consideration. Due to the overwhelming support, a Sanctuary (known as the Caroni Bird Sanctuary) was created, and thus the Scarlet Ibis was afforded a level of protection.

HIKING

Hiking in Trinidad and Tobago is a great way to explore the natural beauty of the islands and its diverse terrain and wildlife. From lush rainforest trails to rugged mountain peaks, there is something for everyone. With our tropical climate, hiking can be enjoyed year-round. Whether you’ re an experienced hiker or just starting out, there are plenty of trails to choose from.

At HADCO Experiences, we can take you hiking on any one of our trails throughout the property, or we can plan your hiking experience outside of our property with one of our many partners who are veterans in hiking throughout the country.

TURTLE WATCHING

In Trinidad and Tobago, we are privileged to witness the majesty of the Leatherback Turtle during the months of March to September each year, as they make their way to our shores to nest.

The largest of all sea turtles, the Leatherback Turtle, is classified as an endangered species. They can weigh up to 2,000 pounds with lengths up to six feet and live to 50 years.

Turtle watching tours offer visitors an opportunity to observe these magnificent animals up close. These tours are a great way to learn about the threats these turtles face and how we can help protect them from further decline. By supporting responsible tourism initiatives such as turtle watching tours, we can help ensure that these magnificent creatures remain safe for future generations to enjoy.

Hikers Association of Trinidad & Tobago
