SOLAR POWER PANELS

Harnessing the Power of the Sun at Asa Wright Nature Centre

At HADCO Experiences, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. We are proud to announce the installation of solar panels at the Asa Wright Nature Centre, made possible through a generous grant from the European Union.

HADCO responded to a call by the European Union for companies to apply for grants under its Innovation Challenge Facility; and was one of the companies selected in Call 2 of the programme. With our innovation entitled Project Sustainable Wildlife Tourism, we emerged as one of the lucky awardees and obtained a grant that covered a significant portion of the expenses associated with the installation of solar panels at Asa Wright Nature Centre. We extend a special Thank You to the European Union and its executing body CARIRI for their generosity and ongoing guidance throughout the project that made this outcome possible.

A Greener Future for the Ecolodge and Rainforest

Nestled in the lush Arima Valley, the Asa Wright Nature Centre is now partially powered by clean, renewable solar energy. This milestone marks a significant step in our commitment to protecting Trinidad & Tobago’s natural heritage while enhancing our guests’ experience.

What This Means for the Centre

  • Reduced Carbon Footprint
By shifting to solar energy, we are significantly lowering greenhouse gas emissions and reducing our reliance on fossil fuels and the electrical grid.
  • Energy Efficiency & Reliability
Solar power ensures a more stable and sustainable energy supply, especially vital in remote rainforest settings.
  • Eco-Friendly Guest Experience
Visitors can enjoy solar-powered amenities, knowing their stay supports environmental conservation.
  • Support for Biodiversity
Sustainable operations help preserve the delicate ecosystems surrounding the Centre, home to hundreds of bird species and endemic wildlife.
  • Community Empowerment
The project also supports local employment and training in green technologies, fostering long-term environmental stewardship.

Powered by Purpose

This initiative is more than an upgrade. It is a promise to future generations that we are taking action to preserve the environment to ensure a brighter future for all. By integrating solar energy into our ecolodge operations, we are also creating a model for responsible tourism and conservation, right here in Trinidad & Tobago.

We invite you to book your stay with us and experience nature, sustainably.
