HADCO Experiences at Asa Wright Nature Centre is a sanctuary.
Nestled in an ancient rainforest, in the Northern Range of the island of Trinidad, the Asa Wright Nature Centre was established in 1967 with a mission to protect part of the Arima and Aripo valleys for wildlife conservation, education, and scientific research.
Home to an easily accessible breeding colony of the rare, nocturnal Oilbird, the Centre covers 1,500 acres of protected rainforest, which houses a rich biota with an outstanding species list that includes native mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and butterflies, and a variety of flowering plant species.
Just outside your window, right on your doorstep, 200+ species of birds, whose habitats have been boosted with special pollinator gardens which attract not just the birds but also the butterflies and the bees.
With an eye on sustainability, HADCO Experiences is engaged with transforming the ecolodge’s operations to achieve international green certification; thereby supporting the Trust’s mission of conservation, education, and research.
There are 29 rooms available for overnight accommodation, spread throughout the undulating terrain which previously housed a cocoa-coffee-citrus plantation, known as the Spring Hill Estate.
Guests will enjoy the comfort and convenience provided by modern technology, while relaxing in solitude in the natural wonders of the forest. Scientists, nature lovers, students and small families will find the ideal place to rest, recharge and enjoy an immersive eco-experience.
